Evaluation

Evaluation -

For this project we were given a list of different  makeup brands and we told to chose one to create two catwalk looks, two editorial looks and two advertisement images. I chose Dior for my brand as i had already use Dior products and have fell in love with their new spring/summer makeup collection created by Peter Phillips. The theme of Dior's spring/summer collection was glowing gardens using a variety of pastel colours, highlights, and soft light tones. Overall i loved this Beauty and the Brands project and feel i have learnt a variety of new skills that i will be relevant for my upcoming projects. I also loved looking at the beauty side of looks instead of creating and focusing on a character inner previous makeup projects.

I chose 4 models using Lucy and Gemma twice as they are the most reliable. I had booked the studios in advance as i new how fast they are booked up and left myself with plenty of time to prepare. However feel i have room to improve in the importance of detail and push myself out of the box to create unique and interesting designs. From my assessment i was told to concentrate on the blending of foundation and to make sure it was the same match as the skin tone. Throughout the rests of the shoot i feel i really payed attention to this and the skin is more of the same tone.

I have learnt a variety of skills and techniques which include creating matte/dewy skin, eyebrows, eyeliners and how to apply the 2016 trends. Due to having such a wide range i was able to choose from a variety of aspects within the brand. With new releases of eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushers and products such as sunglasses and perfume which can be seen in my advertisement shoots.

Throughout this project i enjoyed every moment from researching , practising and creating my final looks. I i were to do this project again i would stuck to the same brand as i feel you can take it a variety of ways however pay attention to detail and improve my designs to make them out of the box.

My Pinterest Board -

I decided to create a Pinterest board for whenever i was lacking imagination. I found this very useful as it helped me understand the image behind the brand which lead me to help me with designs.

Lotties technical file - master class

Victoria Secret Master Class

Within this lesson we had a talented young lady teaching us how to create Victoria Secret curls. Although she was demonstrating to the class she asked us to get up in front of the class and have a try. I found this very useful as she was guiding me with each curl and gave me many tips that would help in my curls for my final Dior looks. She also taught us how to create a soft light makeup with dewy skin which was the looks i wanted to achieve so took many notes and receive as much advice as i could to help me produce the best work for my shoot later that day.

Lotties Technical file - Assessment

Timed Assessment -

Final Images - Below are a variety of images taken of my final look from my assessment

For this assessment we were asked to create a catwalk look based on our chosen makeup brand and the spring/summer 2016 trends. I chose the brand Dior. After looking into this brand i research Dior has bought out a new range of makeup products 'Dior Glowing Gardens'. Glowing gardens was inspired by the beauty of flowers.

Overall, fell my final assessment was a success. I feel the white lashes make a great impact instead of using the everyday black. I feel the headband also brought out the lashes. Overall for this look i wanted it to be pretty and girly with a dewy glowing foundation. using a highlighter to bring light and radiance to the face creating the face to look more awake and to create a fresh glow. I also feel the colours came out well and the makeup was applied to a high standard. I chose my friend Gemma to be my model as i feel she work well when we are both under pressure and remains calm and focused. The last thing you want in an assessment is to be frantic and stressed and with Gemma i knew she kept her calm even through an exam or assessment.

Lotties Technical file - Beach Waves

Beach Waves -

List of tools needed -
1) Sea Salt Spray
2) Brush
3) Mousse
4) Hair dryer
5) Hair diffuser

How to create beach textures waves -
1) To begin this hairstyle apply water spray and some mouse to the hair
2) Secondly using the sea salt spray, spray all over the head on top and underneath the hair and russle your fingers through the hair to apply evenly.
3) Use a hairdryer which also has a diffuser attached and hold it under the ends to curl the hair and create texture.
4) Finally finish drying the hair and bring any hairs away from the face.

My final result -

Overall i loved creating curls a different way than just using the standard curling wand. Also if your hair is naturally wavy you won't need much curl added and can just use a little sea salt spray to add the extra volume. I loved creating a waterfall braid as i feel with the curls it looked pretty and elegant and would be nice to include into one of my final designs for my brand Dior and its theme of Glowing Gardens. Although the waterfall braid is tricky and complicated to do with a bit of practice i am confident i can perfect this technique.

Making a floral crown

Creating my own Floral Crown!

For my photoshoots many of the hair charts included a floral assessory. I researched many flowers i can add into the hair and my favourite was the floral crown. i felt this is very pretty design which goes well with both up and down hairstyles.

I decided to create my own so i could create one exactly the way i wanted and which would flatter my model and would stand out from the others using real flowers. Following a youtube tutorial created by 'Thlaita Makes' i was able to design and bring it to life. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwfQ6XDX6yQ

1)
To create a flower crown you are first going to grab the equipment needed. These include a hot glue gun, scissors, green wire rope, green tape and of course some colourful and vibrant real or fake flowers depending if you want the crown to be for short or long term use.

2)
Secondly grab you wire top and make a firm ring large enough to go around yours or your selected models head.

3)
Thirdly select your flowers you want to use in the crown and cut them so there is a stem long enough to wrap around the ring. Place them onto the wring using some green tape to create a natural look.

4)
One you have placed a variety of flowers around the crown and they are firmly secure,  remove some of the stems from the flowers so its not to overfilling with green and hot glue gun the flowers into place and leave to dry

These flowers don't just have to be used in photoshoots, however also work well at festivals and at the beach or just having a barbecue with your friends.

Test shoot 1 for assessment

Monday's lesson with Kat -

In todays lesson i decided to take this time to practise my assessment look on myself to make sure i liked the design and was confident in what i was doing. I felt this look came put alright however wasn't very catwalk so decided to make a few changes by using white mascara and making the hair voluminous and down. My chosen model for my assessment has lovely thick lashes so using the 1016 trend of brushing the eyebrows out will work well in my design as they are dominant on her face.

Lotties Technical File - Shapes and Silhouettes

Lotties Technical File! Shapes and Silhouettes.

1) Sleek pony tail -

For this hairstyle you must have a comb and a spray to damp the hair, this will make it a lot easier. To start off you gather the hair into a pony tail and using the spray damp the hair around the centre of tail. Once the hair is damp use your comb to brush out the hair and to create a smooth and slick texture. To make sure there is no looseness tilt the head back and brush from the back of the neck up into the ponytail. Once everywhere is smooth secure with a smooth elastic. If the ponytail is voluminous and messy you can use a heated hair straightener to smooth it out.

2) Twist -

For this style you are also going to want to use the spray bottle to damp the hair and a couple of bobby pins to secure the twist. To begin with you are going to capture the hair like a ponytail however to the side and pin the hair at the back of the head where the curl will go into. Using the water spray will smoothen out the hair. With the left over hair gently buckbrush the hair to create volume, this will remove and cover any gaps that will form. Twist the hair with your fingers and bend inwards and grip into place to secure the twist.

3) Twist with a quiff -

First of all i created the quiff selecting a top section of the hair and back combing using a backcombing brush. Once i was happy with the height and shape i secured into place. Next i did the exact same as the twist in the second style however just added the quiff.

Overall i am very happy with the way these three designs have turned out and am definitely exited to use these styles onto myself and my models to create an elegant look. In the future i will be interested to add accessories and see what designs i come out with.

Lottie's technical File - Braids

Lotties Technical File - Braids!

5 strand -

Overall this was my result of the five strand braid. This braid i felt takes a lot of practise, concentration and patience however once you have mastered the technique creating the 8 and 11 stand plait will be a lot easier to understand.

Waterfall braid -

I love creating waterfall braids and feel they look so pretty and elegant. To create this hairstyle its just like braiding however you drop a piece down and add a new piece to replace. This braid is very unique with the waterfall effect.

Lace Braid -

I decided to experiment and do a lace braid for my final braid. I love the way this has came out and feel would look great for a catwalk look as it is something a lot different to what you see on a daily basis.
